Muscular Dystrophy Association Fundraiser

The ladies of Gamma Sigma Sigma along with the men of Tau Kappa Epsilion are pleased to announce the fourth annual 24 hour Walk-a-thon for a charity. Our goal this year is to raise $600. All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to The Muscular Dystrophy Association. There are many different types of Muscular Dystrophy that can affect a person from birth to an adult over the age of 60. The term designates a group of hereditary muscle-destroying disorders, which vary in inheritance pattern, age of onset, initial muscles attacked and rate of progression.
This year the two organizations will begin walking from 6pm Wednesday April 7th, 2004 and will continue walking until 6pm Thursday April 8th, 2004. In 1950, a small group of parents whose youngsters had muscular dystrophy decided to do something to help their children, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) was born. Those parents firmly believed that there are no incurable diseases, only diseases for which no treatments have yet been found. That basic philosophy has animated MDA ever since. With your support we can help find a cure for this disorder. Approximately $53 funds one minute of Muscular Dystrophy research, $100 funds a support group session.
Your contribution will help find a cure for the Americans diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. As a donor, you can help to provide strong financial support to ensure that the Muscular Dystrophy Association can find a cure to help the people affected by this disease.
